FOOD INDUSTRY
Health and safety, the fundamentals in food industry
The handling of powdered products generates fine dust, which can sometimes be highly volatile: cereals, starch, maltodextrin, cocoa, sugar, salt, fruit powders, etc., as well as gas emissions during the transfer of additives, colourings, flavourings, etc. These pollutants are harmful to operators and can cause respiratory allergies such as asthma or baker’s rhinitis.
The food industry is also subject to hygiene standards such as HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point).
Organic dust and gases (methane, etc.) released by the degradation of materials can also be explosive, as history has unfortunately shown with regard to their effects on humans and the working environment (Blaye 1997). Certain events, some recent and some less so, are listed in a document produced by the INRS concerning these explosions, which shows that 31% of accidents occur in the food industry.
(INRS ND2331 – 220 – 10 Dust explosions in the workplace).
Regulatory emission limits also exist to protect the environment. Our solutions comply with these values, and continuous monitoring systems ensure that emissions are kept safe throughout the year.

Ventilation, dedusting and bulk technology
In the agri-food sector, Wattohm strives to take specific requirements into account by designing and manufacturing installations that comply with hygiene standards, made of stainless steel, with no possibility of material retention, easy to clean… and ergonomic for operators.
We offer solutions for tank ventilation, dust removal from grain handling equipment such as silos, conveyors and elevators, dust removal from grinders, mixers and sieves, and unloading of trucks and trains.
In the secondary processing industry, we offer solutions for bag emptying, dust extraction from weighing and dosing stations, tank feeding, heat removal from ovens and drying chambers, energy recovery, as well as pneumatic transport solutions for production waste such as aluminium packaging.

Mastery and respect of BRC standard and state of the art
We work to size extraction and filtration systems in accordance with INRS recommendations, in compliance with client specifications and food standards. See the ANSES website.
Our team dedicated to the agri-food sector is familiar with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and can respond to the specific demands of the sector thanks to our experience and our partners, who are trained and qualified to meet these needs.
Our team offers project-based solutions, with different milestones linked to your specific requirements and the installation acceptance process. You will be kept informed at every stage, from the design to the commissioning of the systems that best meet your specifications. We also provide maintenance for the installations and training for operators in good practices.
